Shiatsu

Healing and slowing down the aging process with Shiatsu.

description/overview

Shiatsu therapy is a form of traditional Japanese bodywork which stimulates the body’s natural healing ability by applying gentle pressure to points across the body. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience.

What to expect in a session.

  • Shiatsu treatment usually takes place on a padded mat or futon at floor level or on a table, although it is possible to receive Shiatsu sitting on a chair if you are unable to lie down. The client stays fully clothed.

  • Each session last for approximately one hour.

  • Your Shiatsu practitioner will consider your state of health, the symptoms you are experiencing and will use a variety of techniques to improve your energy flow. These may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers and elbows on the meridians and when appropriate more dynamic rotations and stretches.

Guidelines for receiving Shiatsu

  • Please wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing, e.g. sweatshirt, tracksuit and cotton socks.

  • Do not eat heavily in the two hours prior to treatment.

  • Do not drink alcohol before or after a treatment.

  • After a treatment drink plenty of water.

  • Avoid if possible strenuous or stressful activities after a treatment.
